It’s our first show for the new year. Happy New Year!
This is the 6th month of the show that we launched in August 2010, so we like to take time to thank our listeners, our sponsors, and our ‘correspondents’.
Speaking of our listeners, many of you are listening to the live stream, or via iTunes. We have seen the emergence of an international audience as well, from Australia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Chile, Brazil, UK, Israel among others. Thank you!
This week, (Show 23, if you’re counting) focused on the ‘greening of Project Management’ which is more complex than you imagine. Dave Shirley and Rich Maltzman, co-founders of Earth PM, unpack some of that complexity –and the acronym-heavy territory that is PM. It’s the ’4th P’ they remind us, that needs to be added to triple bottom line thinking!
But we also have a report from Jen Beauchamp, her first live report. She talks about the stories which she will be tracking in the new year: sustainability innovations, ‘Beyond The Box,’ and regulation and leadership issues.
We also couldn’t stop ourselves talking about the story of the day, Ted Williams, the homeless man with a golden voice –the story that went viral in a few hours, jumping from YouTube, to Cable TV to blogs, and then back to radio! It’s our radio homage to a remarkable radio guy!
We also talked about a great social media event, Social Media Arizona (or ‘SMAZ‘) that will be held in February in Tempe, Arizona.
We talk about Derrick’s upcoming presentation at Arizona State University, and the next ‘Wiki-Up’ event on SustainAZility.
Dave and Rich are co-authors of Green Project Management, and we encourage you to check it out on Amazon
Enjoy the show!
This is a short podcast, in lieu of our cancelled show tonight. We’ll be back next week, live on 1100KFNX.
But on this podcast Derrick Mains talks about how Sustainability became more, much more that about ‘let’s-go-hug-a-tree! It was all about flipping the switch of productivity.
Company productivity in 2010 increased by 1.6%, while in the 3rd quarter, it increased by 2.1%! If you think of that from a workforce perspective (where 10% of the population has been unemployed) the trend is very good: Companies are making, or poised to make productivity gains, becoming more efficient, more profitable, and doing so with a smaller percentage of the workforce.
We also talk about Wiki-nomics. This time in relation to how a wiki could be an open-source platform that is not controlled by some consulting firm, or ear-marked by lobbyists. “It’s the new democracy,” says Derrick, planning tapping into collective intelligence. Among other things we talked about:
Our reporter this week was Jen Beauchamp.
